Faculty Development Program on CFD-OpenFOAM

The Faculty Development Program was organised in June 2025 to impart knowledge to the faculty members to solve CFD problems while understanding the intricacies involved in simulations through a robust at the same time easy to use CFD tool box- OpenFOAM.

At the end of this workshop, participants learnt-

Mr. Alok Nikhade

Alok embarked on his career as a Programming Instructor while pursuing his Master's in Hydro and Renewable Energy at IIT Roorkee in 2014. He simultaneously shared his expertise in mini-hydropower systems with postgraduate students at Lovely Professional University, Punjab, while

Dr. Ajit Balakrishna

Dr. Ajit Balakrishna has more than 25 years experience in the application of CFD to industrial reactors, especially in the field of semiconductor equipment. He graduated with a BTech in Chemical Engineering from IIT Bombay in 1989 and went to do his PhD at the University of Minnesota under the guidance of Profs Lanny Schmidt and Rutherford Aris. He then did a postdoc with Prof Klavs Jensen at MIT before joining Applied Materials in 1997.

Mr. Divyesh Variya

CFD Engineer @ Ecozen Solutions PVT. LTD.

Divyesh holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Gujarat Technological University. He participated in the FOSSEE internship program and later served as a project research assistant at FOSSEE.

He has a background in solar manufacturing processes, including the design and simulation of stages such as MG-Silicon production, PolySilicon processing, ingot and wafer manufacturing, cell manufacturing, and module manufacturing.
