FOSSEE OpenFOAM Symposium on CFD

A 2 day Symposium on OpenFOAM for CFD was conducted during 8-9 Jan 2026 at the Aerospace Department, IIT Bombay. The symposium was arranged to bring together the OpenFOAM users of the IIT Bombay community. The event was attended by faculty, students and research scholars of IIT Bombay. There were more than 50 participants. Faculty members from various departments presented their work and talked about how OpenFOAM was used in their research work. The OpenFOAM faculty lead Prof. Chandan Bose, visiting faculty, Chemical Engineering Department and the FOSSEE CFD team ensured a smooth conduct of the event.

On the Day 1 of the Symposium there were talk sessions by professors of IIT Bombay. A panel discussion followed the talk sessions, wherein the Faculty Partners and Advisory Board members of the CFD team of FOSSEE came together to discuss a few topics on CFD that are of high significance to the CFD community.

On the Day 2 of the symposium a workshop was organised at IIT Bombay. Students of IIT Bombay and some nearby regions of Mumbai were invited to attend the workshop. The workshop focused on the intermediate and advanced levels of OpenFOAM. Prof. Chandan Bose conducted the workshop along with the CFD team members of FOSSEE, IIT Bombay. Dr. Rahul Halder from SISSA Italy presented a demonstration during the workshop as a guest speaker.
